Real Life Change
Cardiovascular devices and therapeutics are a 12.8 billion dollar global industry, growing at a rate of 12 percent per year. The projected market size for micro-medical biofeedback sensors alone is more than 10 billion dollars. Together, these sectors are one of the largest and most rapidly growing industries of the U.S. economy.
The Cardiovascular Innovation Institute is able to take research in these fields from the biomedical and bioengineering labs straight to the bedside, helping patients lead better lives.
CII focuses on discovery, development, testing, and clinical evaluation of medical devices and medical therapeutics, including bio-adaptive heart innovations, combination therapies, heart assist devices, cell-based therapies, diagnostics, biofeedback sensors and related technologies.
This is being done in collaboration with the University of Louisville Health Sciences Center and the UofL Speed School of Engineering. Research Programs include:
- Bioimaging & Bioinstrumentation
- Cardiovascular Therapeutics
- Pediatric Heart Research
- Regenerative Medicine
For more information concerning additional research areas of interest, please contact CII Scientific Director Stuart K. Williams, Ph.D.
