About Us

A vision of better lives for future generations . . . realized.

The Vision

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, claiming more lives than the next seven causes of death combined.  The Cardiovascular Innovation Institute (CII), a partnership of the University of Louisville, Jewish Hospital and the Kentucky Department of Commercialization and Innovation with support from Sen. Mitch McConnell – is being created to bring new treatments for cardiovascular disease from the laboratory bench to the patient bedside.

The Goal

The CII’s goal is to improve care for patients with advanced heart disease, so they may live longer, richer lives.
