Our Facility
Device Design and Fabrication
The biomedical engineering labs at the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute have multiple options for device design and fabrication and modification of existing metal and plastic devices and electronics for specific research needs.
We use industry standard design programs to design device components and circuit board layout. The design files generated can then be taken to facilities at the University of Louisville for computer-driven fabrication of mechanical components and multi-layer circuit boards.
After component fabrication, devices and circuit boards can be assembled and tested in the CII labs prior to release for research purposes. Vented hoods, vented work benches, and an array to tools are available for mechanical and electrical device assembly, calibration, and testing.
A GLP-compliant, computer-based archive system documents the design and fabrication of devices.
The CII also can assemble, test and modify of electrical instrumentation racks and digital data acquisition systems that are both GLP compliant and meet AAMI standards for clinical use.
