Microscopy and Imaging Suite

The MIS is equipped to provide state-of-the-art molecular and cellular imaging capabilities to investigators. At the heart of the Suite is an Olympus MPE multi-photon confocal laser scanning microscope system and a JEOL JSM-820 SEM equipped with digital image-capture technology. The confocal system enables deep imaging of 2-D and 3-D cell and tissue constructs and specimens. The SEM is uniquely configured for surface imaging of biological and biological/artificial hybrid systems.

Cell & Tissue Facility

This Facility is equipped to support a variety of cell and tissue isolation procedures including blood-derived, bone marrow-derived and tissue-derived stem and stromal cells. In addition, cell and tissue isolates can be cultured in a number of configurations as either 2-D or 3-D constructs with or without perfusion support. Associated with the facility is a bioreactor design and fabrication lab. Finally, the Facility houses a cutting-edge, award-winning, prototype system capable of direct-write fabrication of biological and artificial tissues and constructs.
