Jewish Hospital is aggressively looking at clinical research opportunities aimed at improving the quality of life and providing promising innovations in patient care. Trials currently underway at Jewish Hospital include:
- Evaluations of Ventricular Assist Systems (LVAS) to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the LVAS for qualified patients with end-stage heart failure who are not transplant candidates. The principal investigators for the study are Laman Gray, M.D. and Robert Dowling, M.D.
- Comparisons of drug treatment in Acute Coronary Syndrome patients who are to undergo percutaneous coronary intervention. Nicholaos Xenopoulos, M.D. is the Principal Investigator at Jewish Hospital for the sponsor Ely Lilly, Inc. There will be more than 13,000 subjects enrolled at more than 100 centers in the United States.
- The trial of a Coronary Stent System in the Treatment of Subjects with de novo Native Coronary Artery Lesions. The purpose of this study is to see whether a new investigational drug eluting stent system is safe and effective in treating the narrowing of a coronary artery, as compared to an approved stent. - Carotid Post Approval Trial to Uncover Rare Events is being conducted at Jewish Hospital as one of 150 sites nationwide in a follow-up clinical research study of an FDA-approved carotid artery stenting procedure and device. The procedure offers a minimally invasive alternative for patients who have carotid artery disease, but are not candidates for carotid endarterectomy.
- Comparison studies of pulmonary devices. The principle investigator is Michael Bouvette, M.D.
- Studies, which assesses the safety of using an investigational treatment, within 10 days of a heart attack that may repair a damaged heart. The principle investigator is Daniel McMartin, M.D.
