Giving to the CII
Giving to the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. More than 700,000 people die of heart disease each year, accounting for about 23 percent of all deaths in the country. In Kentucky alone, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death. Over 20 counties in the state boast a higher than national average death rate for the disease. The Cardiovascular Innovation Institute (CII) is dedicated to understanding the causes of cardiovascular disease and developing new therapies and devices to treat patients with this illness.
Your support of the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute helps us continue to forge ahead in innovative research and groundbreaking studies focused on finding a cure for cardiovascular disease. Your gift will be used to find new treatments and participate in the latest clinical trials in order to create brighter tomorrows for patients and their families suffering from heart disease, as well as:
- To support CII researchers in developing breakthrough innovations that will translate to the patient’s bedside and will improve the lives of patients with cardiovascular disease.
- To provide resources to bridge the gap between basic research findings and development of clinical therapies and medical devices.
- To encourage and support new investigators, helping them establish careers in cardiovascular innovation.
While aiding our mission, donors may realize substantial income and tax benefits, depending on the type of gift donated to the institute through the University of Louisville Foundation.
Better Lives through Cardiovascular Innovation Campaign
To reach or goal of improving patient care and advancing cardiovascular research, at least $20 million in philanthropic provision is needed. There are many funding priorities and naming opportunities available to support.
Major gifts provide funding for priority projects within the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute. To find out how your giving interests align with our current needs or for a detailed list of opportunities, please contact Bob Gayle.
